Catholic liturgy is, by its nature, a public thing. However, due to the various restrictions on gatherings imposed by civil authorities and in the interest of public health, as per Bishop Vásquez’ decree of March 17, the faithful shall not gather for the celebration of the Mass at parishes through April 8, unless the decree is revoked or extended by a subsequent decree. Instead, Mass will be celebrated privately by the priest. For these Masses, the priest may require a small complement of liturgical ministers to assist, especially for Sunday Masses streamed by social media. This group of liturgical ministers should not exceed the limits given by the civil authorities in the area. In a spirit of solidarity with all parishes in the diocese, and in adherence to Bishop Vásquez’ decree, Masses are not open to members of the faithful who simply walk up to the church.
