Lauren supports the pastoral activities of Life, Charity and Justice with ministry to the Black apostolate. She helps to promote and support the continued integration into parish and community life — and activities related to the spiritual, educational, and societal well-being — of Catholics of African descent. In addition, she is responsible for developing multicultural initiatives that seek understanding and cooperation among the diverse Catholic communities of the diocese, promoting a more beneficial involvement of African-American Catholics in our local church.
Lauren has earned graduate degrees in education and pastoral theology. She serves as chair of the theology department at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy. She came to the Austin area after working in educational ministry at Transfiguration Catholic School in Los Angeles and Saint Mary’s Academy in Inglewood, California. A pastoral musician, Lauren has been featured at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress. Her music has also been featured on Eternal Word Network Television (EWTN) with the Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. Lauren is a parishioner of Holy Cross Parish in Austin.
