Mike Scarpato serves as the risk manager for the Diocese of Austin. In this role he coordinates the diocesan Risk Insurance Program, which provides coverage to parishes and schools for property, liability, automobile, workers’ compensation and other perils as they occur.
His goal is to decrease the probability of operational risks leading to new claims or losses by pro-actively sharing information with parishes and Catholic schools throughout the diocese.
“Insurance and risk management are integral parts of the Diocese of Austin’s commitment to stewardship,” Scarpato said. “The diocese is obligated to safeguard our people and properties as well as be able to effectively respond to emergencies as they arise.”
One of the greatest joys of his role is working with parish staff members on complex insurance claims that lead to the restoration of the beautiful worship spaces in our diocese, he said.
Scarpato, his wife Julie, and their four children are parishioners of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Pflugerville.
