Last week, we heard the story of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman. She is transformed by Jesus, the Living Water.
In this week’s Gospel Jesus heals a man born blind. After years of begging and being judged a sinner because of his blindness, Jesus takes mercy upon the man and restores his sight. This miracle, witnessed by many, becomes a powerful testimony for the man’s family, his community and the Pharisees.
May Christ heal our blindness and open our eyes with the gift of faith so that we, too, may say the words of the man who now sees, “Do you believe in the Son of Man? [Jesus asks]. He answered and said, "Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?" Jesus said to him, "You have seen him, the one speaking with you is he." He said, "I do believe, Lord," and he worshiped him.”
