My Brothers and Sisters:

This month the Church celebrates the feasts and memorials of some of the most memorable saints in our Catholic tradition. Among them are Saints Thomas the Apostle; Mary Magdalene; James the Apostle; Martha, Mary, and Lazarus; and Joachim and Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 

We commemorate and honor these first witnesses who were close to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. They were his followers, friends and relatives who knew him in ways few others did. Our Lord experienced and enjoyed the beauty of family, friends, and close relationships. 

What a wonderous month in the Church! 
 
This summer may we have the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with those who have sustained us in our Catholic faith. 

This year, I dedicated three new sanctuaries, and in July I will dedicate the fourth at St. Mary in College Station. This is a sign of the tremendous growth of our diocese. I am grateful for the generosity of the faithful throughout the diocese and the pastors and parishioners at each of these newly dedicated sanctuaries. 

May God continue to shower his goodness and blessings upon the Diocese of Austin.
