The diocesan annual Middle School Rally is an opportunity for youth in grades 6-8 from across the diocese to come together in a conference format for a fun day of dynamic keynote presentations, prayer, sharing in fellowship, and attending workshops that help them grow in faith.
The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting invites you to attend its 3rd annual Family Faith Scouting Retreat. Open to all families and scouts in Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Trail Life USA, Troops of St. George Scouters, or anyone wanting to learn more about scouting. This day of reflection will include time for prayer, hiking, outdoor activities, and crafts for the scouts. Join us for a day of nature, activities, and learning how scouting is rooted in our Catholic faith. Check-in begins at 9:15 a.m. The program will begin at promptly at 10 a.m. and conclude with closing Mass at 4 p.m. Registration is open to families and individual packs/troops looking for a retreat. Drawing from the USCCB document Disciples Called to Witness, we will review the historical context of the New Evangelization and explain the relationship between evangelization and catechesis. Learn practical strategies and resources for building a “culture of witness and outreach” in our classrooms and parish communities. Our Catholic call to justice is rooted in the heritage of Scripture, the life of Jesus himself and the rich tradition of the Church’s social teachings. This 2- day course will focus on key social justice themes and how to incorporate the Church’s social teachings into one’s life and work.
This workshop will present an overview of civil law as it affects ministry in the church. It will discuss tort law; law of negligence; the rights and responsibilities of bishops, parishes, pastors, pastoral councils, and boards; the rights and responsibilities of DREs, Youth Ministers as well as other parish-sponsored ministries; supervision of parish programs and Catholic Schools; and the rights and responsibilities of students and parents. This course studies the effects of ecumenism in ministry within the Catholic Church, our relationship with other Christian and non-Christian religions, the implications of ecumenical dialogue, the concerns of identity, and obstacles to ecumenical dialogue. TEC (Together Encounter Christ) starts as a three-day retreat centered on the Paschal Mystery of Jesus and then welcomes you into a greater community focused on living our Catholic-Christian faith daily. Sponsored by the Diocese of Austin, TEC of Central Texas is a weekend of prayer, reflections/talks, group discussions, personal reflections, recreation, live music and activities. Sharing, getting to know those around you and participation activities are important aspects of the weekend.
