Roman Missal: The Church’s common treasure
Church Ministers will play crucial role in the implementation

The Austin diocesan Office of Worship has developed this site to assist and inform parishes and Catholics throughout Central Texas with the implementation of the third typical edition of the Roman Missal.

The third typical edition of the Roman Missal was promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 2000. It was published in Latin in 2002. Since then, it has been undergoing an extensive period of translation into English. The implementation of the new Roman Missal (currently known as the Sacramentary) will be implemented Advent 2011. The new translation will affect both the presider and the assembly at Mass. The catechetical process, which is designed for both the ordained and the laity, will begin October 2010. The process has four phases which will conclude with the implementation on the first Sunday of Advent 2011.  You are invited to explore this website further to learn about this important process.

PHASE ONE:

PRIEST’S 2010 CONVOCATION:

Foley has 19 books to his credit, including A Commentary on the General Instruction of the Roman Missal for which he served as general editor. He is also general editor for a scholarly commentary on the new Order of the Mass and its translation. Fr. Foley has lectured in more than 60 dioceses throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, India, Europe and Australia.

This includes DREs, liturgists, Music directors, teachers, campus ministers and anyone who uses the Sacramentary for catechetical purposes. These workshops are designed to help give the leadership concrete materials and guidance to introduce and implement the New Roman Missal. Dates and sites for these workshops are as follows:
