Ascend: An Emerging Leaders Program

Forming Catholic leaders through:

Reflect on Catholic identity and core values

Intentional servant leadership development

A lived Christian witness in everyday life

Ascend, the Diocese of Austin’s emerging leaders program, is an initiative to identify, develop and support young leaders under the age of 40 in the diocese and the communities in its borders. Participants will be challenged to consider ethics and leadership through the lens of their faith. The Ascend class of 2017 will be empowered to make a lasting contribution by practicing applied leadership skills so that they may exercise their faith in positions of leadership in the Church as well as in their homes, communities and careers.

This program was founded in 2015 with an inaugural class of 35 young leaders. Ascend is supported by the Diocese of Austin Offices of Stewardship and Development and Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry. Each year a new class is invited to experience an intentional curriculum presented by Catholic leadership development experts. The diocese is now accepting applications for the Ascend class of 2017. Approximately 30 young adults will be selected to participate in a series of retreats and evening courses between February and April. Applications are due February 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
