We envision a Culture of Life and a Civilization of Love that affirm the dignity of human life and embrace the abundant life of communion with Christ to which we all are called.
The Office of Pro-Life Activities of the Diocese of Austin seeks to bring the Gospel of life and love “to the heart of every man and woman and to make it penetrate every part of society” (Evangelium Vitae 80). To accomplish this, we root our activities in the Church's firm conviction of the dignity of every human life, created in the image and likeness of God, and the knowledge that “man cannot fully ‘find himself’ except through the sincere gift of self” (Gaudium et Spes 24). Moreover, we seek to fulfill our responsibility to nurture, protect and sustain the life God has created, from conception to natural death, and the family, fundamental to a ‘civilization of love’ (Letter to Families 13). We work to implement the goals set forward by the U.S. bishops in regard to pro-life activities. We do so through prayer and worship, public information and education, pastoral care and public policy. In this way, we invite all to be filled with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
