Job Description: 

Provide custodian/ janitorial services for church, office/classroom building and special event buildings. This position will work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The work demand will vary throughout the year. Must undergo background checks and take Diocese of Austin’s Ethics and Integrity course.

Responsibilities: The job responsibility will involve cleaning classrooms, conference rooms, and the church between events and servicing trash and restroom needs. Responsibilities also include the set up tables and chairs for event activities. The individual will also be asked to fill in for our existing full time custodian as required. These duties are outlined below.


• Maintain restrooms – replenish paper towels, bathroom tissue, and soap. Empty trash containers and clean floor and toilets/urinals.
• Maintain classrooms, halls, offices, kitchen, and workroom.
• Maintain church facility (restrooms, worship space, sacristy, and chapel).
• Provide floor care daily to include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, applying floor finish.
• Provide services (event set up, and restrooms) for special event building.
• Set up halls and meeting rooms (appropriate tables and chairs) per schedule or request when needed.
• Communicate maintenance issues with facilities team.
• Maintain cleaning and sanitary supplies in public areas.
• Clean windows and door glass as needed.
• Monitor light fixtures for bulb replacement.
• Maintain campus – pick up trash, empty outside trash containers.
• Ability to do medium lifting (at least 50 pounds).
• Provide other services as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Ability to apply common sense, mechanical aptitude, and people skills to the job.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to be standing/walking most of the day.
• Needs to be dependable and consistent in work habits.
• Needs to be able to talk and interact with clergy, managers, and staff.
• Knowledge of reading and writing and the use of simple arithmetic.
• Ability to work well with others
• Speak both Spanish and English
