How to initiate the Gabriel Project in your parish
1. It is decided that the parish will participate in the Gabriel Project:
- Someone is willing to coordinate.
- The pastor approves.
- Other interested individuals form a team to help the coordinator.
- Pastoral and Finance Councils endorse the project.
- A Sunday is selected to introduce the project to the parish.
2. The parish contacts the diocesan Pro- Life Director or the Gabriel Project Coordinator who will:
- order a sign (the parish will pay for this).
- supply the brochures.
- supply the volunteer cards.
- supply the mother and baby books.
- supply a variety of forms and other materials including prayer books, posters and business cards. .
- set up a training for those interested in being "angels."
3. Those who will be leaders in the parish Gabriel Project will be appointed to their specific area of concentration.
4. The pastor will pick a weekend to introduce the Gabriel Project to parishioners at the Masses to invite them to help in some manner, including volunteering to be a Gabriel Angel, making material and monetary donations and offering prayer support.
5. The sign is blessed and placed in a location of high visibility.
6. Trainings are for individuals who wish to be called upon to help pregnant women as an "angel." To schedule a training in your parish or to find out when and where the next training will be, call the Pro-Life Office at 512-238-1756.
