Hispanic Ministry
Hispanic Advisory Board
The Hispanic Ministry Advisory Board is to discern, make judgments and to advise about decisions concerning the present and developing opportunities to minister with the Hispanic Community in our Diocese of Austin. The board acts as a vehicle for communication, reflection, dialogue and collaboration ultimately for the Bishop of Austin and does so among women and men who are in the capacity of diocesan or parish ministers, lay organizations, institutes, movements and/or religious congregations.
This is done by promoting the model of ministry known as Pastoral de Conjunto as it is outlined by the U.S. Bishop's National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry.
This is done to further the empowerment of Hispanics in both church and society by identifying, convoking, and developing leadership among its member organizations and their constituencies.
We facilitate interaction between various pastoral ministries serving the Hispanic Catholic community throughout the diocese. We also function as advocates for Hispanic ministry so that diocesan structures of the Church, diocesan and parish, are informed of the reality of Hispanic Catholic in the diocese of Austin.
Goals
The goals of the Hispanic Advisory Board are to:
- acquire a better knowledge of the realities that Hispanic Catholics face in the Diocese of Austin;
