Information For Parents - More Information
The diocese provides workshops for parents and other adults as part of its Ethics and Integrity in Ministry program. A schedule of workshops is posted on the diocesan Web site. The workshops are free of charge.
What should I do if I learn of abuse or potential abuse?
The most important things you can do if a child discloses abuse to you is to listen carefully and reassure the child that he or she did the right thing in coming forward. Let the child know that you will do whatever you can to keep him or her safe.
It is Texas state law that an adult must report abuse or suspected abuse of a minor to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1-800-252-5400 or www.txabusehotline.org, and/or through local police.
If a volunteer, clergy or staff person in a parish or school perpetrates abuse or violates a minor’s boundaries, a Notice of Concern (PDF) should be made with the diocese either by calling (512) 476-4888 or using the form available at the diocesan Web site.
Together, we can make the world a safer place for our children and young people.
